CCC Exercise Club Lenny Johnson
(Calisthenics, Conversation, and Coffee)
If you haven’t exercised for a while but know you should, have a treadmill that is used solely for hanging clothes, are intimidated by exercising in front of
“Bendable Barbie’s”, or have a need for conversation with other adults, this is the club for you. The exercise class will incorporate videos for low-impact
aerobics, light weight training with free weights, and stretching exercises for cardiovascular, muscle, and joint health. Stay after class for conversation and coffee/juice/water in the South Ridge Forum. Wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes (no street shoes) and bring a water bottle, pillow, and mat or rug.

Beginning Yoga Jodi Christensen
Beginning Yoga incorporates therapeutic yoga and breath work to introduce students to classic Hatha yoga poses. Using these postures to increase the body’s alignment, stability, strength and flexibility. This class focuses on the basics for new & returning students. Jodi Christensen is a certified Hatha Yoga Teacher at the 500 hr level and Somatics Educator. She loves to combine the therapeutic movements of Somatics with Classic Yoga Asanas (poses) empowering students to find more freedom, ease, and mobility. Bring an exercise matt. Please register by Jan. 9. If this class proves to be desired by at least 8 we will continue weekly for additional fee.

Zumba Leigha Kuehl
Zumba! Ditch the workout, join the party! Zumba combines Latin and international music with a fun and effective workout system. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating. Zumba fitness is known for the zesty the zesty Latin music, like salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton. This class session will focus on zumba for beginners. We will use the official DVD set to learn the basics and progress to learning our own customized workout that everyone can do. We will also focus on learning a 20 min flat abs workout during the course. This class is designed to burn 1,000 calories in 1 hour! The best part about zumba is the flexibility, everyone has their own style of dance and that is ok! Also note that nothing is done on the floor, it is all standing. Supplies needed: comfy workout clothes!
You will sweat, A LOT, so keep this in mind when choosing attire, comfy athletic shoes, toning sticks are optional. Register by Jan. 7, without sufficient enrollment it will cancel. 9 sessions, no class Jan. 16 or Feb. 20. Arrive early so you are ready to begin at 6:30.

Karate North Tae Kwon Do Ryan Niesen & Nic Mathiowetz
Mr. Niesen was taught by the founder of Karate North, Mr. Tom Sullivan, and has over 13 years of martial arts experience. Mr. Mathiowetz has over 20 years of experience and has also studied under Mr. Tom Sullivan. Karate North Tae Kwon Do is a great way to gain physical and mental benefits such as increased flexibility, poise, endurance, focus and strength. It is a great sport, self defense and is being offered for children ages 8 to adult. Additional Fees include a uniform, test fees, and the purchase of pads if you choose to advance to the rank of 6th Grade Green Belt. Feel free to come and watch a class to see if it’s for you. Kickboxing Ryan Niesen & Nic Mathiowetz
Kickboxing offers a full body workout. Mr. Mathiowetz and Mr. Niesen will work with you completing a variety of cardio exercises and pad drills to make you sweat and provide you some basics in self defense as well. Note the new start and end times. The Northern Dragons introduce Bu Ryu Do from Okinawa. Karl is a first degree black belt. This is a balanced system of all phases of self defense. Basic Self Defense class Karl Metzig
For anyone who wants to learn basic self defense principles to apply to any situation. All ages and experience levels welcome. All you need is comfortable street clothes. Class may also be helpful to anyone over the age of seven who is curious about taking martial arts classes. Class will take an hour and a half plus one half hour after the class for people who have question about specific defense situations.

Friends & Family Frank Stoddard
First Aid: The Family and Friends First Aid course prepares layperson adults to administer basic first aid to children and manage illness until professional help arrives on the scene. The course offers a fun, dynamic way for families, friends, and communities to come together and learn first aid basics. This part of the course covers, injury prevention, how to recognize and treat cardiopulmonary emergencies, and how to treat choking in infants, children and adults.
CPR: The dynamic Family and Friends CPR course is designed to teach large groups of lay rescuers the basics of CPR. This instructor-led program uses the research-based practice-while-watching format to teach skills in CPR, and trains students in relief of choking in adults, children and infants, plus child safety strategies. This part of the course covers how to perform CPR on adults, children and infants. Certification will be given upon completion.

Myofascial Release Therapy Sarah Schmidt
This hands on class will be taught by a Registered nurse, Sarah Schmidt. This therapy is a hands-on, one-on-one, therapy for the treatment of chronic pain, restrictions(scar tissue) and for a lack of range of motion. The therapy works with the connective tissue of the body. It is a tough fibrous and gel like structure that holds everything in the body in place. If the gel dries up or the fibrous area becomes thickened then normal function is reduced and pain may occur. The therapy is good for people wishing to regain a feeling of wellness that comes with easing of restrictions. Others may find a benefit from the therapy if they are trying to avoid surgery or medications. Register before March 3. Indoor Walk
Get your exercise in by walking indoors at the school from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and now from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Building is not open when school is not in session. Please bring clean dry shoes so we don’t leave any messes for the custodians. You will now need to have preregistered and received a badge to wear so the custodians know why you are in the building.

Little Panthers Enrichment Club
Here is an opportunity to enroll your child in a daily school enrichment club. We will be available every day after school from 6:00-8:00 am. for $2.00 per day and from after school to 6:00 pm for $5.00 per day payable a week in advance. If school closes early for weather, we will be closed. All paper work must be completed before enrollment; fees must be paid the FRIDAY before each week. A light snack will be provided in the afternoon. We will play outside or in the gym; we will participate in academic activities. Enrollment forms can be found in the office or by calling Lisa Klassen at 349-6325. Families with multiple children will pay a reduced rate for a second and third child.
Open Library
A 20 punch card will be sold for $20.00 to a family. You will have the use of the library for 20 times. Open Library will be Tues. & Thurs. from 5-7:00 pm.
You do need to call me and let me know you are coming so I can have a staff person there.

Your child can stay after school and gather with other youngsters and watch this fine Disney family based movie. Drinks and popcorn provided during the movie. Parents are always welcome come and join in the fun. Movie is approx. 110 minutes. This will get canceled without a 6 minimum pre-registered.

Snowflakes Andrea Anderson
A mommy and me kind of class. Lets cut out snowflakes from paper towels and dip the tips in colored water to make a beautiful snowflake to hang in the window and for children in the preschool age that do not cut with scissors yet moms can cut out the snowflakes and we will glue them on blue construction paper and then decorate them with glitter. Teacher will bring all the supplies.

We will make a mosaic style vase using glass paints that will accent your bouquet or make a beautiful candle holder for a tea light or votive candle inside. This Vase will be baked in your oven at home after dried to insure scratch resistance. Please wear old clothes or bring a paint shirt to use. Teacher will bring all other supplies. This class could also be a Mommy and Me class.

Archery Bruce Ceryes
The Natural Archery in the Schools Program was taught at Cotton by Bruce. He will come to South Ridge each Saturday from Jan. 14 – Mar. 24 from 12-2:00 and teach archery. This course is for the beginner or an advanced archery student. Students as young as 3rd grade up through adults are welcome, parents are welcome to stay and participant or to watch. The supply fee will cover arrows, targets, pull strings and more.

Beginning to Advanced Piano Lessons Peggy Ricci
Piano lessons will be taught in ½ hour increments. You must call in advance and set up a time slot starting at 3:30. Lessons must be paid in advance to Community Education. Books will be available for you to purchase if needed. The fee for lessons on Mon. (9 sessions) is $138. The fee for lessons on Wed. (11 sessions) is $168. Now is the time to get your horses hooves ready for end of the riding season. This class is taught by a 1995 graduate of Oklahoma Farrier’s College.
General health care of the hoof will be covered. Discussion of hoof care and maintaining hoof health during the winter season. We will focus on how to maintain and how to get the most from your bare footed horse. Questions and answers welcomed and freely discussed. Stained Glass Panel Diane Anderson
Learn how to make a beautiful stained glass panel; the nice thing is you get to pick the pattern of the panel up to a 12” x 16” size. Diane lives in Culver and owns UP North Country Crafts at 4961 Rice Lake Rd. that is where you will go to view the patterns and purchase the glass you desire instead of only choosing from what she can carry. You will also need a glass cutter, breaker pliers, running pliers and grozers pliers; these can also be purchased at UP North Country Crafts for approx. $65.00. You need to purchase all supplies listed before the first day of class. Diane will supply all other needed supplies. 5 sessions, no class Jan. 16. No one under 18 years of age. Wire Wrapped Gem Stone Diane Anderson
Diane will teach how to take a beautiful gem stone and wrap copper wire around it, make swirls and shapes on the stone to make a one of a kind necklace.Diane owns UP North Country Crafts at 4961 Rice Lake Rd. and has a vast amount of gems to choose from. Go purchase a gem before Feb. 27, this $10.00 supply fee is for the copper wire and a neck cord. If you have a gem stone it must be flat and be no less than 2” x2”, preferably with a hole in the center. Limited to the first 5 people that pre-register and prepay the $20.00 fee.

Mosaic Gazing Ball or Stepping Stone Diane Anderson
You have a choice of making a unique gazing ball, a bowling ball covered in glass you cut into ½” squares and then fill with grout. These balls are heavy and unlikely to break in comparison to the glass ones commercially available. The stepping stone will be in the shape and size you choose and the pattern of your choice for glass. Both these items are gorgeous! Diane owns UP North Country Crafts at 4961 Rice Lake Rd. that is where you will go to purchase the glass you pick from or/and mold for the stepping stone instead of only choosing from what she can carry.. Bring a pair of stretch gloves and learn how to make an adorable little teddy bear or a little baby doll. This class may be a great way for a single-I-lost-the-other-glove use. Laurie will bring all the other supplies needed, stuffing, buttons etc. This can be a way for you to hold the hand of someone in the service, or a little one in daycare, or someone ill and needing reassurance.

Laurie has a wonderful way for you to create a lasting memory of someone you love. The secondnight you will begin the process and then finish at home. Are you missing someone and have a desire to work through those feelings? This may be the way.

Night Lite Basket Patty Ziburski
This is a great basket that can be used as a lamp. We will weave a medium sized market basket and then add a light assembly to the top of the handle. All you have to do is add the shade and you have a great accent lamp for your coffee table. The shade is not included in the material fee. You will be able to choose color accents to match your home. Needle work/Crafting Days
Bring your own craft, sewing, stamping, basketry or quilting project and come work on it at the town hall. There is plenty of room and large
tables. Gather with friends to share ideas, conversation and maybe even finish a project or two. You do need to pre-register in advance.
